Glen Jamieson is a retired research scientist from Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO); however he continues to work for DFO, and is the DFO contact on PacMara’s board as a non‐voting Director.
Dr. Jamieson has published over 70 scientific papers, and many more on technical and management‐oriented topics. He has worked on species ranging from marine mammals, flying squid, and deep-water corals and sponges. He has over 31 years experience with DFO, and for 18 years he studied shellfish stock assessments and their role in conservation biology.
Dr. Jamieson obtained his Bachelor of Science in Agriculture from McGill University, and his M.S. and Ph.D. from the University of BC. He held a Killam Post‐doctoral Fellowship at Dalhousie University, and is currently an affiliate faculty member in both the Department of Geography, University of Victoria, and the Fisheries Centre at the University of BC.
Dr. Jamieson supervises Ph.D. and M.Sc. students studying invasive marine species, is involved in PICES (the North Pacific Marine Science Organization), and, in the provision of regional Science Branch advice, provides marine spatial planning support to the Oceans Group within DFO.
