Henry Kucera is a recognized expert in designing spatial and temporal intelligence and decision support systems. From 1979 through 1996, he designed and delivered decision support systems for resource exploration, habitat monitoring, conservation, and enforcement with Shell Canada, the Energy Resource Conservation Board of Alberta, and the BC Ministry of Environment.
Mr. Kucera is an advocate for collaboration between academia and industry. He participated in the creation of R&D Centres in Canada and Ireland, and he has served on Advisory Boards for GEOIDE (Geomatics for Informed Decisions) Network Centre of Excellence, and GeoConnections. Mr. Kucera continues to participate in many government and industry forums, including the Defence Science Advisory Board of Canada and the Canadian General Standards Board.
From 1996 to present, Mr. Kucera has worked with his company, Swiftsure Spatial Systems (Victoria, BC), amassing knowledge of ecosystem-management issues of the private sector, government and other organizations in Canada and abroad.
Mr. Kucera is experienced in developing collaborative networks and start-ups. His contacts range from researchers to industry experts across Canada and internationally; through his experience he has developed in-depth knowledge of strategic systems-based approaches to organizational development, planning and project management. He has a track record of addressing complex scientific, societal, and business issues across sectors and domains.
Henry has a B.Sc. in Geology from the University of British Columbia and M.SC in Geography from the University of Victoria. He is a Registered Professional Geo-Scientist in BC and Alberta.
